FAQs: Travel InsuranceQ: Will I have to pay a deductible up front before the insurance starts paying?A: No, for the ISIS outgoing policy, there are no deductibles. There is a small $100 deductible for the ISIS Incoming policy per benefit. Travelex & TravelGuard - no deductibles. Q: Can I renew my ISIS policy / continue coverage once the policy expires? A: Yes, if you have no claims. If you do have claims, you can renew upon approval from ISIS. You can then use your current policy number, but would be purchasing a new set of coverage dates. Be sure to contact us prior to policy end date. Q: How do I qualify for student rates [ISIS]? A: You must be participating in a study abroad program through a university, college or institution of higher learning. Overseas post-graduate research, work or internships also qualify for student rates. We require a student card number (ISIC or college-issued) and/or program name. If unsure if you are eligible, just check with CTS. Q: What if a family member became critically ill while I was overseas and I had to cut my trip short - would those extra costs be covered? A: YES, that is part of the ISIS coverage (Benefit E: Extra Traveling Expenses). For Travelex & TravelGuard, that is covered under trip cancellation/interruption. Q: How are payments to hospitals or clinics handled? A: Whenever possible, payment is made directly to the medical service provider. Otherwise, the insurance will reimburse the policyholder. When payment on the spot is required, the insured should contact the 24-hour emergency assistance service - numbers are listed on the small insurance card provided with the policy. The wallet-sized coverage card should be carried at all times. (ISIS also works with a number of claims offices worldwide in order to expedite your claim locally, if possible.) Q: I am not a U.S. citizen. Can I obtain coverage? A: (ISIS) If you are a permanent U.S. resident wanting coverage for your travels outside the U.S., you can obtain the ISIS outgoing coverage (just give us your Green Card#/visa info). Conversely, if you are a foreigner traveling into the USA, you can obtain the ISIS incoming coverage. (SRI) This insurance product - from Specialty Risk Int'l and offered by CTS - covers you outside of your home country, wherever that may be. So, for instance, if you lived in England and wished to travel to Canada, the SRI "Liaison" policy would cover you. Or if you lived in the U.S., it would cover you outside of the States. Q: Is medical coverage for mountain climbing available? A: The ISIS policy does offer a Hazardous Sports Option. The covered activities are listed on the ISIS page/brochure. Formally mounted mountaineering expeditions are considered Dangerous Sports and therefore not covered. However, recreational mountain climbing with ropes would be a Hazardous Sport and covered under the Hazardous Sports Option at 10% additional premium. For any other questions, please contact
